The best way to build a log home on a shoestring budget is to do the work yourself. I plan to live in a log home someday and have done lots of research on the subject. If a small shack isn’t your kind of place and you’ve had your heart set on a log home, there are many options that won’t break the bank. Rustic slab siding doesn’t cost very much and will protect the integrity of the building. Eventually, I plan to use an inexpensive chainsaw mill to cut slab siding to cover the outside of my small cabin.
